Kellan's 2nd Birthday

Saturday was Kellan's 2nd birthday, I honestly don't know how time has gone by so fast. This year we knew exactly what to get for Kellan for his presents. Kellan has recently become interested in cars and Thomas the Tank Engine and of course dinosaurs are still a favourite of his.

We wanted to get him a dinosaur but not the kind you get in a tub and end up losing so were looking for a fair sized dino. We were in B&M when we spotted a rubbery T-Rex which is quite big. It doesn't do anything but its soft so if it's used as a weapon or thrown and happens to hit someone it won't hurt.

We wanted to buy him some cars but not your normal hot wheel sized cars something chunkier. We looked at wooden cars but they were a bit pricey. I then spotted the perfect set in Argos in the Chad Valley range of toys. The Car Transporter has 3 chunky cars, headlights which light up, a button to make noises and the ramp goes up and down. The Garage comes with 2 cars, has noisy petrol pumps, a ramp, a lift and a car wash for the cars to travel through.

We also wanted to buy Kellan a sturdy Thomas toy which seem to be somewhat hard to find. There are plenty of track sets but thought of those as being too fragile in the hands of a 2 year old. I spotted a Thomas toy in Morrison's whilst doing our food shop that makes noises, the smoke lights up and moves across the floor. It looks quite robust and is a speedy little thing.

We had a little birthday lunch of chicken sandwiches, crisps, chocolate mini rolls and Oreos followed by a fairy cake. The kids gobbled it all up in no time.

Kellan's Grandma popped over with his card and present, a gun that makes noises and lights up. Kellan has played with it so much the batteries have run out already.

I then prepared Kellan's cake. I normally make the cakes but Rory is still feeding a lot so would be impossible to feed him and bake a cake and decorate it too. We bought Kellan a chocolate cake from Morrison's and everyone loved it. We had Gwen asking for second helpings.

We then all sang happy birthday to Kellan and he blew his candles out all by himself.

Fathers Day

We don't tend to go overboard when it comes to Fathers or Mothers day. We buy cards and maybe a few little gifts.

This year was no different but I tried to get cute but useful things for Darren from the children.

I think Darren enjoyed today and he got a cup of tea made by Cerys.

Easter 2013

It's still the Easter holidays for us with a week to go until the children go back to school.

We've had a quiet week staying in, the weather hasn't really allowed us to do much with the rain and the snow trying fall and it being bitterly cold.

We held a mini egg hunt in the back garden but it started snowing whilst out there so we had to rush the children to find their remaining eggs as everyone was shivering.

I had fun making Easter baskets with Jorja who got carried away with glitter glue and had to wipe it up as it was dripping all over the place.

The children enjoyed having chocolate although I must admit they didn't have a lot this year and it's been nice that we haven't had any of them complaining of feeling sick from eating too much.

We also had a rather yummy Easter cake from Asda which was polished off in minutes by us all.

 A few of the children also made Easter cards at school to bring home. Harvey made his at home, he's always drawing or glueing or making something.

Last but by no means least is the huge egg that Darren gave me for Easter. I'm still eating it so it's lasted.

We're hoping the weather will improve soon so we can take the children out next week if only for a trip around town and to a park for some fun.

Dolly Cupcake Wilmslow Cake Pop Review

Cerys won a competition on facebook for cake pops from Dolly Cupcake Wilmslow last weekend. She'd been dying to get them all week and on Saturday morning the postman delivered a package addressed to Cerys and we all knew what was inside.

She opened the parcel so carefully like it was a bomb due to go off lol. The cake pops were so well wrapped I had to do most of it for her. There was no way that those cake pops were going to get damaged Louise had done a fab job of making sure they arrived safely.

We let the children choose which cake pop they wanted to try and Archie and Jorja went for these cake pops.

Cerys, Harvey and Gwen all chose these cake pops.

Each cake pop was wrapped in clear plastic wrapping with a little tie to keep it sealed. They looked very pretty and extremely yummy.

Archie and Jorja's cake pops had chocolate cake as the center with a strawberry icing and little white chocolate stars on the outside. They found them a little hard to bite but once they'd managed a bite they made short work of them.

Archie was kind enough to let me taste his cake pop. Wow was it yummy. The cake in the center was so moist and chocolatey. The strawberry icing was lovely not too overpowering and went great with the chocolate cake. Jorja and Archie both loved their cake pops. They both said they couldn't find anything bad about them and they'd love it if mummy bought them some more to eat. Archie did say that he'd love a chocolate cake pop with chocolate icing and chocolate sprinkles though but I just think he's addicted to chocolate lol.

Cerys, Harvey and Gwen's cake pops had chocolate cake in the center with strawberry icing and then covered with chocolate sprinkles. Again they found them a little hard to bite into but once in them they managed ok with the rest.

Cerys let me taste her cake pop. It was again a lovely moist chocolate cake in the center with that just right strawberry icing and the chocolate sprinkles just made it that bit more chocolate tasting. Cerys and Harvey couldn't find anything bad to say about their cake pops. They loved them and said they'd love more of them. Cerys is also dying to know how Louise makes them. I took Gwen as eating all of hers as a sign that she loved hers too.

I really couldn't recommend these cake pops enough. They are £1 each and worth every penny. They are fab little treats and I'm going to get some for the children for their stockings this year. They aren't too messy even Gwen managed to eat hers without getting too covered. They are delicious and look fantastic.
